Celebrating 20 years: The Doyles Art Award and Exhibition

Celebrating its landmark 20th annual event, The Doyles Art Award and Exhibition is back for 2024, offering people the perfect opportunity to own original art. Running from 27 June to 7 July and featuring over 400 artworks on display with a prize pool of $30,000 across several categories, The Doyles is considered a significant award in the art calendar and event in the community.

Event Director Sam Sinner says the annual exhibition has become an iconic event on Australia’s art and culture calendar, providing art enthusiasts and the local community to discover original art from new and established artists. “The Doyles creates a remarkable and limited occasion for people to directly connect with talented artists and acquire original artworks that are truly captivating,” says Ms Sinner. “Visiting the exhibition is not only a chance to appreciate the incredible creativity on display, but also a unique opportunity to support artists and bring home a piece of art that holds personal meaning and beauty.” Named after famous Australian artist d’Arcy William Doyle, the prestigious award is the Gold Coast’s longest running painting prize and carries a prize pool of $30,000 across its three competition categories – Landscape, Figurative and Still Life. Originally established in 2004 by dedicated volunteers, The Doyles Art Award is held in Firth Park Community Centre, Somerset Drive in Mudgeeraba and runs from 27 June to 7 July 2024. The judging panel will include HOTA Director of Gallery and Visual Arts Susi Muddiman OAM, Director of SWELL Sculpture Festival Natasha Edwards and professional artist Hobie Porter.
